Is solar right for me?

In Naija today, many are of the idea that solar is not for low income to average Nigerian’s but this isn’t always true.

Ask yourself: what are my main reasons for investing in solar?

1. Is it to save cost on utility (NEPA)

2. To stay completely off-grid (without utility power)

3. A backup solution for blackout periods

4. As a replacement for your generators when there is blackout

Many have their priority set on the wrong reasons, solar is not Utility (NEPA), a local saying goes “better soup nah moni kill am” the extent to which solar can phase out utility in an average Nigeria home will be capital intensive.

As the national grid keeps behaving in abysmal manner while alternate power supply is the rescue of the frequent plunging darkness. Solar gives a easy way out as a renewable source of energy, daily replenish itself without the pollution of noise, bad air quality and frequent maintenance like other alternate energy source.

FUN FACT: An average Nigerian home consumes 350 – 800W on a daily average using TV, decoders, fans, lighting, phone charging and occasionally refrigeration.

Once your reasons for going solar is settled and you’ve weighed both the pros and cons, the next step is to set aside your budget range without breaking the bank while searching for a certified solar retailer or company that can educate you on a ready made solution or one that is tailored to your power needs.
